Albert Chastain

November 16, 1947 — March 28, 2025

Albert “Tony” Chastain, age 77, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away on March 28, 2025. Graveside services for Mr. Chastain will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia. Rev. Bob Knight will officiate.
Albert Tony Chastain was born in Barwick, Georgia to Albert Young Chastain and Mary Lounette Sherrod Chastain. Tony lived a very full life. He had many wonderful memories of fishing with his Mom and Dad as well as joining his Dad on the Lance Cracker truck whenever he could. He worked many jobs: pastor in Atlanta, homebuilder, teacher in grades 4th-8th, and a technology specialist to name a few. He was multi-talented and credited his Dad for teaching him many skills and his mom for his sense of humor. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing on the lake with his parents. He was an avid reader of Tom Clancy. He enjoyed playing golf “for the fun of it” and enjoyed the outdoors. He was always eager to go camping in his RV. He loved to eat at his neighborhood Chick-fil-A where everyone knew him. When they saw him coming, they would yell, “Mr. Tony is coming!” He was loved by many.
Tony loved animals especially his mini Dachsunds, Buffy and Valdi as well as his rescue dog, Doolittle. His dogs adored him as well. One of his special memories was saving the life of a little girl who was drowning. He received a proclamation from the Governor of Georgia for this effort. He loved his family and his hometown of Bainbridge, Georgia. His final request was to return to Bainbridge and be buried with his parents at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Albert Tony Chastain is survived by the love of his life and caregiver of 32 years, Barbara Riccardi; his daughters, Sharlon O’Neal (John) and Victoria DeLano (Jim); his sisters Pat Brinson (Charles, dec.) Terry Ward (Mark), Joy Shealy (Kent); a brother, Ronnie Chastain; and his grandchildren Katherine, Kelly, Patrick, James and Amelia.
