Albert Maxwell

Mr. Albert Burnette (A.B.) Maxwell, age 82, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, at his home in Bainbridge, Georgia. A memorial service will be held to honor Mr. Maxwell at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Fellowship Hall of Beulah Thomas Baptist Church, 456 Woodhull Road, Bainbridge, Georgia 39819. Albert Burnette Maxwell was born February 15, 1941, in Grady County, Georgia. His parents, Clifford Maxwell and Alberta Barwick Maxwell, have preceded him in death. A.B. was a graduate of Climax High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He worked hard and retired after working many years as a long-haul trucker. A.B. loved animals and always had a house full of dogs. Izzy, his cockatoo, ran the house. Poppi, as his grandchildren called him, will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Albert Maxwell is survived by his companion of 32 years, JoAnn Nelson of Bainbridge; his children, Susan D. Hawkins of Pinellas Park, Florida, Dennis Jorgensen (Sharon) of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Helen Cooksey (Richard) of Union, South Carolina; siblings, Maxine Johnson of Bainbridge, Jeanette Cook of Tallahassee, Florida, and Dale Barry of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren. Megan Hawkins, Morgan Hawkins, Amanda Wolf, Krista Thompson, Cody Jorgensen, Jennifer Martin, and Jessica Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Pask, Kyle Wolf, Ashlyn Wolf, Annabelle Jorgensen, Ella Jorgensen, Addison Taylor, and Amelia Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Velna M. Toellner, Josie R. Rose, Clifford B. Maxwell, Jr., Dennis W. Maxwell, and Roger Leon Maxwell, Sr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5156 River Road M, Columbus, Georgia 31904 or the Bainbridge Decatur County Humane Society, 120 Cox Avenue, Bainbridge, Georgia 39819.
