Allen Johnson

Mr. Allen Lamar Johnson, Sr., age 83, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Services for Mr. Johnson will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 22, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. David Grubbs will officiate. A private interment will be held in West Bainbridge Cemetery, with military honors, the grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.

Allen Lamar Johnson, Sr. was born September 5, 1942, in Donalsonville, Georgia, to William Oscar Johnson, Sr. and Mandy Irene Lynn Johnson. He spent all of his life in this part of south Georgia. Allen was proud to have served in the United States Army. He married Mary D. Chambers Johnson, who preceded him in death. Allen was a hardworking man, working as a truck driver for Yellow Freight. He loved to work and worked hard. He was a selfless, honest, and honorable man. His family was always first. Allen attended Bainbridge First Church of the Nazarene. Fishing and family brought him great joy.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his children, Dianne Toliver (Billy), Allen Lamar Johnson, Jr. (Leanne), Steve Johnson (Kristina), and Shaun Johnson (Rachal); grandchildren, Harlie Johnson, Caitlyn Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Allen Johnson, III, Anthony Toliver (Macy), Josh Toliver (Brooke), Cody Toliver (Brittany), and Megan Toliver, Cyrus Johnson (SarahGrace Ferrell), Kimilie Johnson, Daegan Johnson, Kyle Johnson, and Ethan Johnson; great grandchildren, Madelyn Rabon, Mason Toliver (Brooke), Jayden Toliver, Candice Toliver, Eason Toliver, David Toliver, Brooklyn Toliver, Christian Toliver, Calleigh Toliver, Charlie Toliver, and Ellie May Johnson; his dear friend, Ginger McDowell; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 9 siblings.
