Allen Martin

Mr. Allen Byrd Martin, age 88, passed away Monday evening, March 23, 2026, at his home in Seminole County, Georgia. No public service will be held.

Allen Byrd Martin was born June 14, 1937, in Hilton, Georgia, to Frederick Edgar Martin and Rosa Mae Shepard Martin. Allen grew up in Hilton, the youngest of nine children. After he finished school, he joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served proudly. While in the Marines he met and married the love of his life, Helen Christine “Chris” Dale Martin. He and Chris shared their lives for over 65 years before her death in 2024. Allen worked as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. In 1985, he retired and moved back to South Georgia. Allen loved to fish and read. He was an avid University of Georgia football fan, go Dawgs! A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he loved attending church. Allen loved his family and they will deeply miss him.

Allen Martin is survived by his children, Timothy Martin and Teresa Martin; sister, Evelyn McCormick, all of Donalsonville; granddaughter, Natalia Brooks (Nick) of Ventura, California; and great-grandchild, Devon Marr. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 7 siblings.
