Alma Smith Hartzog, 85, of Brinson, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ray Dawson officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, GA with Joe Hartzog, Garrett Hartzog, Trey Hawkins, Michael Conley, Tony Cox, and Cliff McNeal serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Hartzog was born December 7, 1925 in Donalsonville, GA, the daughter of Reuben Franklin Smith and Lina Hinson Smith. She was a retired inspector for ITT Electrical and a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Chuck Hartzog and his wife, Dorothy Jean, of Brinson, GA and Freddie Hartzog and his wife, Susie, of Bainbridge, GA; her daughters, Cynthia Cowan of Brinson, GA, June Heard and her husband, Gene, of Bainbridge, GA, and Lina Bradley of Dothan, AL; her brother, Ike Smith of Chattanooga, TN; her eleven grandchildren; and her twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Hartzog; her son, Alvin T. Hartzog; and her daughter, Sandra H. Beasley.
