Funeral services for Mr. Alvin Clark, 48, of Iron City, GA will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Kevin Harrell speaking. Visitation will be held Saturday, September, 12 from 9:00-10:55 AM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel. Alvin Bernard Clark was born on November 12, 1960 to James T. "Bud" and Sarah F. Clark. He grew up on a farm in the Friendship Community north of Opp, Alabama. He was the youngest of their five children. He was affectionately known as Big Al or Boo by his family. He attended Fleeta Junior High Elementary School, Opp, Alabama and graduated from Opp High School, Opp, Alabama in 1979. During his lifetime, he worked on crew boats in the Gulf of Mexico; at Shaw Industries in both Alabama and Georgia; drove a big rig; and most recently worked as a fabricator at Bee Trailers/Harrell Incorporate in Georgia. In May of 2000, he and the love of his life, Lisa Miller Robinson were married. They settled into her childhood home in Iron City, Georgia. Alvin always lived life to its fullest. When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2009, he stated, "the last ten years have been the best ten years of my life and there really isn't anything that I want to do, that I have not already done." He spent the spring and summer of 2009 with family and friends enjoying one of his favorite pastimes - fishing. He was a beloved husband, step-father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed, but as long as we remember him, he will live on. Alvin was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Frances Bodie Clark, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Olen L. Bodie and Mr. and Mrs. Hardy L. Clark. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Clark and step-children, Macon and Tessa Robinson of Iron City, GA and Stevie Robinson of Bainbridge, GA, father, James T. "Bud" Clark, brothers Jerry Clark and Glenn Clark all of Opp, AL, sister, Kathy (Mike) Messick of Woodbridge, VA and nephew, Chad D. Simmons (Brandy) and their children, Nicholaus and Lillian of Troy, AL. A very special niece plus several other wonderful nieces and nephews related by marriage. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Foundation, Cancer Service or the Wiregrass Hospice.
