Mr. James Alvin Dollar, 89, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2007 in Los Gatos, CA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church near Bainbridge, GA with Rev. Ed Harrell officiating. Mr. Dollar was born November 22, 1917 in Decatur County, GA, to the late Joseph Madison Dollar and Carrie Burnam Dollar. Raised in Decatur County, Alvin moved to the Tampa, FL area in 1940. He was a retired real estate agent and a member of the First Baptist Church in Temple Terrace, FL. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, past president of the Plant City Rotary Club, a 33 Mason, a member of the A. W. Windhorst Blue Lodge of Tampa, FL, a member of the Scottish Rite Masons, Valley of Tampa, a member of the Egypt Temple Shrine Club of Tampa, FL, and a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He moved to Los Gatos, CA in 2003 where was a member of SIRS (Sons In Retirement) of Los Gatos, CA. Throughout his life, Alvin loved going fishing. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Mills Dollar, of Los Gatos, CA; a son, Hugh Dollar and wife Janet of Monte Sereno, CA; a granddaughter Jenni Dollar Eisenberg and husband Bill of San Jose, CA; and grandson David Dollar and wife Carrie of El Dorado Hills, CA; and two great-granddaughters, Erika Eisenberg and Alida Dollar.
