Mrs. Anita Eline Knight Sexton, age 57, passed away, suddenly, on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Independent Street Church of God. Rev. Dan Tomberlin and Rev. Ryan Carnes will officiate. Interment will follow in New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Vada, Georgia. David Eakin, Jr., C. J. Jackson, James Bailey, Mark Sexton, Damon Gilstrap, and Travis Hendrixson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 11:00. Anita Knight was born August 28, 1958, in Mitchell County, Georgia, to Grover Cleveland Knight, Sr. and Eiron Holmes Knight. She was married to Carl Sexton. Anita worked for years at Brinson Bail Bonds. She was a member of the Independent Street Church of God. A very caring women, Anita was always ready to help and very community minded. Mrs. Sexton was nominated 2009 Women of the Year for Decatur County. Anita was affiliated with the Stepping Stones Program in Bainbridge. She loved to cook and was crazy about her grandchildren. Anita Sexton dearly loved her family and friends. They will miss her deeply. Anita Knight Sexton is survived by her husband, Carl Sexton of Bainbridge; children, Melody Eakin and husband, Scott of Bainbridge, Jarrod Sexton and wife, Brett of Iron City, Georgia, Deanease Smith and husband, Steve of Brinson, Georgia, and Dena Cawvey of Bainbridge; sisters and brother, Audrey Sodders of Chipley, Florida, Angela Jackson and husband, Randy of Baconton, Georgia, Amy Jackson and husband, Jimmy of Haleyville, Alabama, Amanda Bailey and husband, Clayton of Bainbridge, and Wendell Knight of Brinson; grandchildren, Katlyn, Alaina, Deanna, Kara, Alexis, David, Natalie, Jayce, Brooklyn, and Sidney; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Raylan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Eiron Knight and brother, Grover Knight, Jr. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, friends donate to help the family with the funeral expenses.
