Archie Duncan, 73, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Climax Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Poppell officiating and will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Bobby Duncan, Burton Duncan, James Brock, J. D. Shoemaker, Sydney Cochran, Jim Forrester, Gene Poppell, Jacky Alderman, and Justin Long serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Spooner, Warren Hawthorne, Clowers Godwin, James Campbell, Kenneth Harrison, Carlton Boyett, Mark Maxwell, and Kenneth Jackson. Mr. Duncan was born November 20, 1938 in Grady County, GA, the son of Wylie Duncan and Pearl Gainous Duncan. He was a graduate of Whigham High School and served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired winch truck operator with Georgia Power Company. He was a member of Climax Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and his family, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mavis Ard Duncan of Bainbridge, GA; his daughter, Amy Marshall and her husband, Greg, of Whigham, GA; his brothers, Glynn Duncan and his wife, Carolyn, of Tallahassee, FL and Spencer Duncan and his wife, Lois, of Whigham, GA; his sisters, Betty Shoemaker and her husband, J.D., of Bainbridge, GA and Dorothy Hart of Vicolia, CA; and his granddaughters, Kimberly Duncan of Colquitt, GA, Hannah Marshall of Whigham, GA and Heather Marshall of Whigham, GA. He was preceded in death by his son, Darin Duncan; and his brothers, Jack Duncan, Sherwood Duncan, and Burton Duncan.
