Archie Smith

Archie Smith, 78, of Eldorendo, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at Eldorendo Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Long officiating. Interment will follow at Eldorendo Baptist Church Cemetery with Jason Smith, Ricky J. Sullivan, Richard J. Sullivan, Jr., Steve Blalock, Alan Tiner and Jerry Harrell serving as active pallbearers and the men of Eldorendo Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Smith was born April 7, 1931 in Colquitt, GA, the son of Archie Smith and Viola Mims Smith. He graduated from Pine Hill School, Class of 1948 and was a self employed fence installer. Mr. Smith was a member of Eldorendo Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Sue Alday, his son, Ronald A. "Stormy" Smith and his sisters, Elton Carter and Edna Blanchard. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Mildred V. Smith of Eldorendo, GA; his daughter-in-law, Sara Joe Smith; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
