Arlene Cowart Dickson, 81, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 in Blackshear, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Leroy C. Spinks and Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Jesse Pierce, Zach Pierce, Jeff Goodman, Edward "Chip" Ruffin, Anthony Elliott, Scott Pattillo, and Brenson Lee serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Dickson was born July 8, 1927 in LaGrange, GA, the daughter of Ernest William Pattillo and Vora Mae Curry Pattillo. She was a graduate of Valdosta High School, Class of 1946, a homemaker, and a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband Allen H. Cowart. Survivors include her husband, John Dickson of Bainbridge, GA; her daughter, Paula R. Pierce and her husband Al of Old Fort, TN; her son, Bryan Allen Cowart and his wife LaRetha of Blackshear, GA; three stepchildren, Jim Dickson of Pensacola, FL, Arlene Henderson of Opp, AL, and Richard Dickson of Allen, TX; her brother, Alfred H. Pattillo of Lake Park, GA; six grandchildren, Hillary P. Goodman and her husband Jeff, Jesse B. Pierce, and Zachary Pierce, all of Old Fort, TN, Brea Crews and her husband Emory of Blackshear, GA, Brenson Lee and his wife Samantha of Macon, GA, and Shyian Cowart of Blackshear; and nine great-grandchildren.
