Arthur Livingston

Arthur L. Livingston, Jr., 90, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Bainbridge Healthcare. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gerald A. Little officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. The graveside funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. (CDT) on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, with the American Legion officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service. Mr. Livingston was born February 26, 1921 in Sturgis, MS, the son of Arthur L. Livingston and Mary Ina Cooper Livingston. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Mississippi State University. He was a captain in the United States Army Air Force in World War II and retired with many years of service. During World War II, he was a P40 fighter pilot with the Flying Tigers in China. Mr. Livingston was the owner of the Dixie Hotel and was the city clerk in Piedmont, AL. He was active in the community as and a member of the American Legion, the Elk's Club, a Mason for over 60 years, and was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include his sons, Dr. James M. Livingston, of Columbus, OH, Robert L. Livingston of Bainbridge, GA, and David C. Livingston of Alexandria, VA; his seven grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren. Mr. Livingston was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Geraldine Johnson Livingston; and his sister, Annie Lee Williamson.
