Bernice Johnson

Bernice Bowles Johnson, age 92, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, January 1, 2021. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 4. Pastor Johnny Moore will officiate. Bernice Bowles Johnson was born August 16, 1928 to Johnny Bowles and Mae Florence Carter Bowles. She was a Cairo, Georgia native. Bernice married Heber Johnson, who preceded her in death. Bernice was a homemaker. She took great care of her entire family. She nursed all who needed attention. Bernice was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children, Randy Johnson (Helena) of Cairo and Rita Thomas (Tommy) of Thomasville, Georgia; son-in-law, Ted Collins of Whigham, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children, Donna Lynn Johnson and Claudette Ann Collins. The family offers a special thank you to Bridgett Osborn, Nichole Johnson, and the staff of Kindred Hospice for their attention to the care of Bernice.
