Bernice Salter Stewart, 85, of Attapulgus, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Capital Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. C. Phil Tondee and Dr. Carl G. Garnett officiating. Interment will follow at Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery with Bill Story, Bill Lanier, Lewis Jones, Robert Stephens, Melvin Davis and L. D. Miller serving as active pallbearers and Winsome Sunday School Class and the men of Calvary Baptist Church serving as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Stewart was born January 6, 1923 in Decatur County, GA, the daughter of the now late Norman S. Salter and Mary Dollar Salter. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Winsome Sunday School Class and was a homemaker. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cheryl Stewart. Survivors include her husband, Harvey Edward Stewart, her son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Gail Stewart of Attapulgus, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Faye and Jerry Ridley of Cairo, GA; two sisters, Jessie Mae Kamp and Louviel Mulford, both of Fairmont, WV; four grandchildren, Shane Key, Chad Stewart, Gabriel Ridley and Jacob Ridley and five great-grandchildren, Josh Key, Jacob McAllister, Courtney Key, Savannah Key and Taylor Key.
