Bertie Marie Owen Dollar, age 93, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Seminole Manor in Donalsonville, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Dollar will be held Monday, December 1, 2025, 11:00 am, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. David Grubbs will officiate. William Scott, Danny Dollar, Dennis Dollar, Robert Humphrey, Ronald Johnson, and Glenn Walden will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Georgia State Patrol Post #14. The interment will follow in West Bainbridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 10:00 am.

Mrs. Dollar passed away peacefully after a long, full life devoted to faith, family, service, and creativity.

For the past six years, she made her home in Colquitt, Georgia, though her roots were in Cairo, Georgia, where she was born. She spent most of her life in Bainbridge, Georgia, where she built a warm and meaningful life surrounded by family, friends, and a community she dearly loved.

Bertie was known for her talents, her creativity, and her gentle spirit. As the proud owner and operator of Don-Lin Ceramics, she poured her heart into each piece she made. Her studio became a place of friendship, laughter, and learning.

She gave selflessly of her time, serving as a Red Cross volunteer and Gray Lady volunteer, offering comfort and support to many. Her dedication to her faith was unwavering – always faithful to her church and always uplifting those around her.

Bertie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Johnny and Dianna Dollar of Bainbridge, GA; Linda and Lynwood Busby of Savannah, GA; Hardy and Tracy Dollar of Colquitt, GA

She is also survived by her sister, Lorene Walden, and a large loving family of grandchildren: Toni and Tim Underwood, Johnny Dollar, Jr., Justin and Tammy Dollar, Jarrod and Sarah Dollar, Daina and Juan Castro, Lyn and Shelly Busby, Leslie Busby, Melinda Bass, Kayla and Kyle Faircloth, Samantha Harden, and Austin Dollar. As well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bertie was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, William Neal “John” Dollar; her parents, Richard Hershell and Doletha Holman Owen; her daughter, Lisa Marie Dollar; her siblings, Robert Owen, J.L. Owen, Louise Wood, Bessie Cottles, Allen Owen, and Dorothy Allen; her grandson, Lee Busby; and her great-granddaughter, Abbygale Dollar.

Bertie’s legacy is one of love, kindness, generosity, and faith. She leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever and an example of a life lived with purpose and grace.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with the loved ones who went before her, and that her light will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
