Funeral Services for Bessie Lee Braswell, 83, will be held Thursday, July 3 at 11:00 AM EST at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Kuritz officiating. Interment will follow in Brinson Cemetery with Lonnie Hughes, David Braswell, Terry Smith, Justin Smith, Ricky Bland, and Kyle McMillan serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home. Our universe shifted Monday when Bessie Braswell died. She was a loving wife to Jeff, mother to Betty (Braswell) Smith (deceased), James, Roger and Tom Braswell and Glenda (Braswell) Cumbie. She was loved by 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. Mrs. Braswell was born in Bay County, FL the daughter of Ervin and Betty Golden Day Hoskins. She spent most of her life in Bainbridge, GA being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Most of the things she loved to do included spoiling her grandchildren, working in flower beds, she had a green thumb, sewing, baking and cooking she was a great cook and could make a mean buttermilk biscuit and a caramel cake that would melt in your mouth. She also didn't mind ironing, babysitting kids from birth to grown, she raised chickens for eggs, and picked cotton. She did not like to have her picture taken, nor did she like spiders and snakes. She moved to Pensacola in 1990 and died in The Health Center of Pensacola under Covenant Hospice Care Monday, June 30, 2008. She is survived by one daughter, Glenda (husband David) Cumbie of Pace, FL; three sons, James "Buddy" (wife Cleo) Braswell of Bainbridge, GA, Roger (wife Kathy) Braswell of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Tom "Midget" (wife Pat) Braswell of Dahlonega, GA; one son-in-law Julian Smith of Pensacola, FL; 17 Grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; two brothers; Ervin "Pap" Hoskins and Ruben "Buckshot" Hoskins both of Panama City, FL; and two sisters, Willie Mae Culverson of Whigham, GA, and Maggie Myrick of Florida. Mrs. Braswell was preceded in death by her parents. her husband Jeffie Lee Braswell, and one daughter Betty Smith.
