Mrs. Betty Timmons Apgar, 61, of Mooresville NC, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 29, 1945 in Tallahassee, FL, she was the daughter of Mary Brunson Timmons of Bainbridge, GA and the late Jackson Lee Timmons. She was a teacher at Brawley Middle School for 25 years. She obtained her masters degree at UNCC where she graduated cum laude. As a devoted teacher she had a relationship full of respect and love for her students. Her love of children was broad and reached many: her life touched not only her beloved grandchildren, but her students as well. She was a faithful member of Fair View United Methodist Church where her devotion to God inspired others. She was a member of many committees, including United Methodist Women and loved to serve in the nursery and delighted in teaching Sunday School. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard W. Apgar; children, Richard Apgar, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Banner Elk, Cathy Cocolas and husband, Anthony of Mooresville and Mark Apgar and wife, Sylvia of Mooresville; sister, Evelyn Knight of Bainbridge, GA; brother, Jackson Lee "Buddy" Timmons of Blakely, GA; and grandchildren, Abigail Apgar, Alexis Cocolas, Sam Cocolas and Marcus Apgar. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, April 23, 2007 at Fair View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Hamrick, the Rev. Laura Hamrick and the Rev. David Christy officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, April 22 at Fair View United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, April 25 at Blakely Cemetery, Blakely, GA.
