Betty Bowers

Betty A. Bowers of St. Cloud, Florida, died under the care of Advent Health Hospice in Orlando, Florida, on March 14, 2020. Her ashes will be interred on Saturday, April 22, 2023, 2 p.m., at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 5008 Vada Road. northeast of Bainbridge, Georgia, between her parents. She was born in Vada, Georgia, on February 26, 1923, to Dr. William L. Bowers, M.D., and Lena Marie (Compton) Bowers. During her working life, she was employed by the United States government and ended a distinguished career of service to the country as a staff officer of the Central Intelligence Agency. She is survived by the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of her deceased sisters. Survivors include William B. Bailey of Americus, Georgia; Stephen Perry of Anoka, Minnesota; Philip A. Perry of Evanston, Illinois; Peter A. Perry of Lexington, Kentucky; Alexander H. Lehocky of Canton, Georgia; Emily B. Lehocky of Martinez, Georgia; Verna-Virginia (Ginny) P. Lehocky of Athens, Georgia; and members of their families. Several friends and Toby, her beloved cat, have also outlived her. Her surviving family knew her as “Aunt Betty,” a kind and generous friend who will be greatly missed. Anyone who knew her or her family is welcome to join in the brief graveside service led by Stephen Perry, a retired United Methodist pastor.
