Betty Davis Cross, 83, of Climax, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Conrad Salter and Rev. Thomas Snead officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with David Bird, Ashley Posey, Tracy Posey, Joey Posey, Mike Wimberly, and Bud Glover serving as active pallbearers. Steve Brock, Larry Posey, Lowell Dollar, Leaston Boutwell, Donnie Foister, Rex L. "Buck" Powell, Charles Lodge, Gary Harrell, Jimmy Hatcher, Kenneth Kelly, and Phillip Martin will serve as honorary pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home. Pleasant Baptist Church, 5008 Vada Road, Climax, GA 39834.Betty Jane Davis was born January 22, 1933 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Thomas Ellis Davis and Mollie Grace Newsome Davis. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant School and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She married Alton Cross in 1951 and lived in the Mt. Pleasant Community. Betty was a gifted seamstress, retiring from Jack Winter and Janet's Fine Fabrics. She loved her family and always had a soft spot in her heart for her fur babies.Survivors include her children, Pamela Jane Cross of Climax, Mollie Renee Cross of Climax, and Rhonda Cross Jarrett and her husband, Kenneth, of Sylvester; and many four-legged children and grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alton Cross, and her sister, Olive Davis Wacaser.
