Betty Rose Griner Moat, 79, of Lake Wales, FL, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at her residence due to cancer. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Gary Bales, Michael Bales, Richard Perdue, Matthew Cannon, Hardy Moat and Dennis Browning serving as active pallbearers. She was born September 1, 1934 in Bainbridge, GA to the late George E. and Ruby (Earnest) Griner. Betty had been a resident of the Lake Wales area since she moved from Bainbridge in 1968. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Dyas and her husband, Robert, of Tavares, FL, Elizabeth Reeves of Lake Wales, FL, Joyce Moat of Dundalk, MD, Alice Lawson of Lake Wales, FL, Lisa Hamel and her husband, Gaten, of Auburn, AL, and Roseanne Narvaez and her husband, Gil, of Winter Haven, FL; her sons, Hardy Moat and his wife, Kay, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ray Moat of Lake Wales, FL; her sisters, Sylvia Thornton of Camilla, GA and Bernette Matthews of Brinson, GA; her brother, Louie Griner of Leesburg, FL; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Moat in 1992; her brother, Gerald Griner; and her sister, Delilah Gammage.
