Betty Strickland

Betty Louise Strickland, 76, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2009 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Newton Cranford, Rev. Stanley Phillips, and Rev. Carl Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Mrs. Strickland was born December 1, 1932 in Decatur County, GA, the daughter of Mitchell Parnell and Effie Bennett Parnell. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Alto Strickland and her brother Thomas Parnell. Survivors include three sons, Edward A "Bo" Strickland, Jr. and his wife Sherrie of Bainbridge, GA, John N. Strickland and his wife Diane of Bainbridge, GA and Robert M. Strickland and his wife Lyn of Colquitt, GA; four daughters, Susan Lane of Donalsonville, GA, Darline West and her husband Leonard of Albany, GA, Betty Jane Johnson of Bainbridge, GA and Katie Decker and her husband M.J. of Beaver Dam, KY; and 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
