Betty S. Youngblood, 80, of Waycross, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Baptist Village Retirement Communities. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Poppell officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Youngblood was born January 15, 1935 in Climax, GA, the daughter of Elmer Swicord and Maude Powell Swicord. She was a native of Decatur County, GA, but she has lived most of her life in Waycross. She retired from the Social Security Administration as the assistant administrator for this district after 55 years of service. She was repeatedly honored during her lengthy career for her achievements. She was a member of First Baptist Church Waycross. Survivors include her daughter, Gina Alday Wooten (Lyn) of Waycross GA; her son, Joe Michael Alday (Vickie) of St. Simon's Island, GA; her grandchildren, Derek Wooten, Laura Elizabeth Wooten, Joseph Michael Alday, Victoria Powell Alday, Jeffrey Brockington, and Brittany McMinn Beckworth; her great grandchildren, Nancy Piper Fletcher, Lyndon Wyatt Fletcher, Shawn Bentley Alday, and Olivia Brockington. Additional survivors include three nephews and a very dear cousin, Harry Swicord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Earl Youngblood; and her brother, Elmer Swicord, Jr.
