Bettye Batchelor Wester, 74, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Austin L. Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Chuck Wester, Buddy Wester, Joe Putnal, Johnny Smith, Bill Wester, and Brian Butler serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Bettye was born April 8, 1938 in Savannah, GA, the daughter of William Idus "Red" Batchelor and Dollie Ruth Wells Batchelor. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1956, Florida Junior College, and Florida Institute of Real Estate. Bettye married Bennie Lee Wester in 1958 and moved to Jacksonville in 1960. She was a retired broker for Wester Realty Corp. and a member of Highlands Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. She was a Master Flower Show Judge and served on the governing board of the Garden Club of Jacksonville since 1960. Bettye served on the governing board of Jacksonville Riverside Women's Club and was a charter member of Queens Harbour Yacht and Country Club. She was a volunteer for the Beaches Habitat Program. Survivors include her husband, Bennie Lee Wester of Bainbridge, GA; her son, Bill Wester of Satsuma, FL; her daughter, Janet W. Butler of Glen St. Mary, FL; her sister, Caroline B. Meachum of Jacksonville, FL; and her grandchildren, Brian Butler and Lauren Butler and their father, Keith Butler. She was preceded in death by her son, Bennie Lee Wester, Jr.
