Bobby Sanford Kirkland, 82, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. Born on June 1, 1943, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life reflected his faith in Jesus Christ and community service.
Bobby served in the National Guard and dedicated much of his life to his church and community. He was a deacon, a founding member of NorthStar Church, and a faithful member of Cove Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven, First Baptist Church of Panama City, and First Baptist Church of Bainbridge. He was also a longtime member of The Gideons International.
He enjoyed a successful career as a banking executive and later as comptroller for the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Bobby loved fishing, waterskiing, golfing, playing softball, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Hortense Kirkland, and his sister, Sharon Goodlake. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen Everitt Kirkland; his children, Leslie Earnest (Russ) and Todd Kirkland (Anna); brother, Marlon Kirkland (Cindy); grandchildren Collin Earnest, Evan Deering (Tyler), Lane McCormick (Seth-David), Samara, Hannah, Daniel, Benjamin, and Hazel Kirkland; and great-grandchildren Jean Michael McCormick and Calla Camille Deering.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 4:00 pm (Central Time), at the First Baptist Church of Panama City, 640 Grace Avenue, Panama City, Florida 32401.,
