Bonnie C. Pennington, 79, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Heritage Health Care. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Attapulgus Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 prior to the funeral service at Attapulgus Baptist Church. Mrs. Pennington was born September 29, 1933 in Climax, GA, the daughter of Julian Thomas Hawkins and Lucille Strickland Hawkins. She worked for the Decatur County Board of Education and was a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Julie Nix Barron of Tallahassee, FL; her son, Michael Kevin Smith of Tallahassee, FL; her sisters, Maxine Medley and her husband, Johnny, of Attapulgus, GA and Sharon Jackson and her husband, Jackie, of Climax, GA; her brother, Tommy Hawkins and his wife, Connie, of Bainbridge, GA; her five grandchildren; and her nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Pennington; and her son, William Clayton Nix.
