Caroline Bower Olin, 98, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away December 16, 2009. The memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. June Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the home of Laura Bridges, 2400 Twin Lakes Drive, Bainbridge, GA. Mrs. Olin was born in New York, NY on March 3, 1911, the daughter of John Dickenson Bower and Caroline Rogers Bower and grew up in Bainbridge, GA. Mrs. Olin attended Florida State University and received degrees from colleges in New Orleans, Paris and New York. She did field work in Scandinavia, Australia, Bali and Thailand. Mrs. Olin received her PhD in History of Art from Stockholm University, her title thesis was Navaho Indian Sun Painting, The Construction of Symbols. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Sundstrom and Sven Olin. Survivors include her daughter, C. Christina Olin and her husband Goran Graborg of Stockholm, Sweden; her grandchildren, Caroline and Mikael Graborg, both of Stockholm, Sweden; her brother, Byron Bower of Florence, AL; her sister, Mary Stone and her husband Jim of Bainbridge, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
