Carolyn Clay Daniel, 82, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Daniel was born March 10, 1931 in DeSoto, GA, the daughter of Robert Augustus Clay and Eddye Leone Hooks Clay. She was Valedictorian of the 1948 graduating class of Lee County High School, attended Georgia State College for Women, and graduated Cum Laude from North Georgia College with a BS in Biology. She served a one year internship in Medical Technology at Charity Hospital of New Orleans and was a medical technologist at Sumter County Hospital, Miller County Hospital, and for Drs. James and Hinton Merritt. She served on the Board of Directors of the Decatur County Historical Society and developed the Historical Tour Guide for Bainbridge. She served as Chairman of the Bainbridge College Foundation, and was a founding member of the Bainbridge College Ambassadors. She directed a play for Bainbridge Little Theatre and served on the Board of Directors, as Vice-Chairman, and as Treasurer. She served on the Board of Directors for the Riverside Artsfest and Historic Chattahoochee Commission. Survivors include her husband, George Edward Daniel of Bainbridge, GA; her two sons, George E. Daniel, Jr. and his wife Anna of Bainbridge, GA, and Dr. Michael P. Daniel and his wife Joan of Bluffton, SC; her grandchildren, Jason (Megan), Jessica (Shawn), Nicole (Matt), Garrett, and Stephanie; her brothers, Dr. Robert A. Clay, Jr. and his wife, Betty Ann, of DeSoto, GA and Dr. James R. Clay and his wife, Judy, of Athens, GA; her sister, Evelyn Clay Hicks and her husband, Howard, of Marietta, GA; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Octavious Perrin.
