Carolyn Thomas, age 79, passed away May 7, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas. Mrs. Thomas, formerly of Cairo, Georgia, has been living with her daughter in Dexter, Kansas. Services for Mrs. Thomas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, at New Jerusalem Church, 1225 Ridge Road, in Cairo. Pastor Darrell Owens will be officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00. Carolyn was born April 7, 1935 in Ozark, Alabama. Her parents were James Albert Powell and Lizzie Rogers Powell. Carolyn lived most of her life in Grady County, Georgia. She so very much loved to fish. Carolyn will be sorely missed by the family she loved so much. Carolyn is survived by her children: Jean Palmer, Mary Alice Bryant, Donald Thomas, Myrlene Lewis, Charles Edward Thomas, J T Thomas, and Johnny Thomas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Betty Ann Green, Annie Lou Lomerneck, Buddy Powell, Robert Powell, Gerald Powell, Roger Powell, and Earl Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Thomas; children, Ronnie Thomas,Carolyn "Wanda" Thomas, and J T Thomas; sisters, Kate Woodard, Judy Brogdon, and Eva Mae Riley; and brother, David Powell.
