Cathie Pedersen

Cathie Pope Pedersen, 66, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating.  Interment will be at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The church is located about 3.5 miles south of Climax, GA on Georgia Highway 262. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Memorial donations may be made to Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, 4214 Thomasville Road, Climax, GA 39834. There will be a casual gathering of friends and family at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August11, 2018 at the home of Randy Shelfer, 1244 Salem Road, Havana, Florida.  Please come and share your memories of Cathie. Cathie Jean Pope was born March 17, 1952 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Elton Eugene "Bill" and Sarah Kelley Pope. Her family moved from the Bell Dixon Community south of Climax, GA to Tallahassee, FL when she was 10 years old. Cathie was a graduate of Leon High School, Class of 1970 where she was a member of the Leon High Marching Redcoats Band. She also attended Tallahassee Junior College. Cathie spent many years working with the Tallahassee Home Builders Association and was the editor and publisher of the Tallahassee Builders News. She also opened and managed a drug testing business. Cathie loved Elvis, watching old movies and spending time with her family. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Cathie faithfully attended her home church, Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Roy Oscar "Pete" Pedersen; her son, R. O. Pedersen and his wife, Callie, of Milton, FL; her daughter, Jodi Pedersen of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; her brother, Don Pope and his wife, Dawn, of Valdosta, GA; her nieces, Erica Pope and Lauren Pope; and her grandson, Noah.  Cathie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Sarah Pope.
