Cathy Newsome

Cathy L. Newsome, 54, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rawleigh Furney officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Bruce Webb, Greg McNair, Len Glover, Johnny Atkinson, Chris Strickland, and Bob Sharpton serving as active pallbearers. Cathy was born July 29, 1955 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Collins Clyde Gilstrap and Cathleen Robinson Gilstrap Bridges. She was a paraprofessional for the Decatur County Board of Education, and attended Bainbridge College. Mrs. Newsome was a member of the NRA and a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Shelton Newsome of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Kirk Tindell and his wife Holly of Bainbridge, GA and Robbie Tindell and his wife Dana of Thomasville, GA; a daughter, Naomi Tindell and her fiancé Anthony Blanchard of Bainbridge, GA; a stepson, Kenneth Newsome of Ft. Worth, Texas; a stepdaughter, Shelby Poole of Bainbridge, GA; three brothers, Robert Gilstrap and his wife Tammy of Roberta, GA, Edwin Gilstrap and his wife Roxanne of Bainbridge, GA and Bobby Gilstrap of Bainbridge, GA; a stepbrother, Kerry Bridges of Macon, Georgia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
