Charles Smith

Charles Wendell Smith, 80, of Faceville, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Sylvania United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy McNair officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Sylvania United Methodist Church. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Smith was born September 21, 1928 in Plant City, FL, the son of Charlie Washington Smith and Bessie Mae Lloyd Smith. He was a retired farmer and worked many years at Florida State Hospital. He was a member of Faceville Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Mae Bateman Smith of Faceville, GA; his daughter, Betty Ann Worrell and her husband Barney of Chattahoochee, FL; his two sisters, Naomi S. Summers and her husband Jack of Bristol, FL and Geraldine S. Walker and her husband Tom of Preston, GA; his two grandchildren Jamey Worrell and his wife Lynn of Trussville, AL and Tracy Worrell Duke and her husband Kyle of Faceville, GA; and his great-grandson, Mason Hunter Duke of Faceville, GA.
