Charlotte Strickland-Sims

Charlotte Strickland-Sims of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the age of 71. Services for Mrs. Strickland-Sims will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, 11:00 am, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Strickland Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10:00 am.

Charlotte Strickland was born May 10, 1955, in Bainbridge, to Charlie Curtis Strickland and LaRue Craft Strickland. Charlotte grew up and attended school in Bainbridge. She was a woman with a forgiving heart that loved without conditions. She exhibited her strength, resilience and faith as she dealt with her painful ordeal with cancer. Even with her struggles, she put others first. She loved her cats and loved going to the beach. She was committed to her faith. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was the image of grace and beauty. Her family will miss her tremendously and a hole is left in their hearts that will never be filled. Her wings were ready to fly but we were not.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Roselyn L. Strickland Griffin. She is survived by her husband, Dale L. Sims; daughter, Erica L. Free and son, Audie Haire (Staci Haire); grandchildren, Aaron R. Magruder (her Pumpkin), MaKayla L. Free-Moody (her Angel), Lexie Haire, Kate Haire, and Matthew Haire; her great-grandchild, Natalie Free-Moody; her nephew, Charles Griffin (Tara Lovell); her great-niece, Freya Griffin, and cousin, Darlene Sanbury (her best friend through it all).
