Miss Charmion Barclay Christy, 101, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Bainbridge Healthcare. The graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. June Johnson officiating. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Miss Charmion Barclay Christy was born October 17, 1908 in Nashport, OH, the daughter of William H. Christy and Charmion Prior Christy of Newark, NJ. Miss Christy was known as an individualist noted for her sparkling personality. She studied art at Ohio Wesleyan University and Carnegie Institute of Technology and had her works in several exhibits in Pittsburgh, PA. During World War II, she was recruited into the Sarah Zane Contingent of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in order to, "put some kinks in the enemy." In 1975, she moved to Bainbridge, GA where she garnered quite a reputation for her portraits, landscapes, and street scenes; some of which are hanging in many local churches and homes. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Woman (ECW). Miss Christy was preceded in death by her sister E. Lynn Christy and her brother Richard Christy. She is survived by several cousins.
