Council Gainey

Council Haywood Gainey, 94, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008 at Bainbridge Healthcare in Bainbridge, GA. The graveside service will be at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Gainey Cemetery in Grady County, GA with Rev. Andy Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 5:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819. Mr. Gainey was born October 26, 1913 in Decatur County GA, the son of John Robert Gainey and Minne Lee Shores Gainey. He was a farmer and member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Veronica Brock Gainey; a son, Haywood Durant Gainey; a daughter, Nannette Gainey; and two sisters, Myrtice Gainey, and Gwendolyn Moses. Survivors include five daughters, Loraine Pless of Gainesville, GA; Diane DeMattei of Anderson, SC; Linda N. and Ray Josey of Iron City, GA; Angela and Peter Chason of Monroe, GA; Terrie and Danny Priest of Bainbridge, GA; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
