Mr. Curtis Lee Darus, age 87, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at his home in Cairo, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. The time and date to be announced once all arrangements are completed. At that service, in accordance with State of Georgia guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing and to wear protective masks. Curtis Lee Darus was born December 12, 1933 in Grady County, Georgia. His parents, Dee Richard Darus and Floree Lois Andrews Darus, have preceded him in death. Curtis spent 26 years in the United States military. He served in the Air Force and later the U.S. Army. After his retirement he moved home to Cairo and retired from Torrington Industries where he worked as a mechanic. Curtis loved to read and watch the Syfy channel on television. From country to classical, he dearly loved to listen to music. Mr. Darus is survived by his son, Christopher John Darus and wife, Joleen of Bandera, Texas and sister, Hazel Dollar of Cairo. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David.
