Curtis Duaine Hatcher was born September 7, 1939 in Camilla, GA, the son of Leo Jefferson Hatcher and Hilliard Heidt Hatcher. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School and earned an associate degree in industrial electrical technology. He married Doris Louise Hirrill in 1960 and they made their home in Southwest Georgia. Duaine was a member of First Baptist Church, Orion Lodge #8 F&AM, and proudly served his country in the National Guard. Duaine was a hardworking, God-fearing man who led by example. He was always a gentleman believing his Christian witness was most important. Duaine loved to sing and spent many years sharing his gift in the church choir. He enjoyed fishing on the Flint River with Curt and tried to be reasonable when telling about the one that got away. "Papa" was a one-of-kind husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He doted on the grandchildren and might have even spoiled them a little. The jewel in his crown was treating his beloved Doris as "The Duchess". Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Doris Hatcher; his children, Curt & Lyn Hatcher of Bainbridge, GA, Chris & Bobbie Jo Hatcher of Virginia, and Craig & Julie Hatcher of Idaho; his siblings, Hershel & Jo Hatcher of Leesburg, GA and Lynwood Hatcher of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Lauren Mae, Lindsay & Russell, Lee, Allie, and Griffin; his great-grandson, Grady; and his aunt, Yvonne Mason of Oakridge, TN. In addition to his parents, Duaine was preceded in death by his siblings, Irving Hatcher and Betty Ann McCarty.
