Curtis J. Ward, 84, of Attapulgus, GA, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Grubbs and Elder Roy Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery with Bill Ward, Mark Ward, David Grubbs, Jr., James Campbell, Kenneth Harrison, and Warren Hawthorne serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Ward was born April 6, 1927 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Warner Perry Ward and Stella Brock Ward. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a retired lineman with Georgia Power Company. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4904, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and Attapulgus United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gerri W. Ward of Attapulgus, GA; his sons, Elwood Ward and his wife, Katrine, of Attapulgus, GA and Kenneth Ward of Attapulgus, GA; his son-in-law, Fred Davis of Tallahassee, FL; his sisters, Dorothy Boyette of Signal Mountain, TN, Ann Johnson of Rixeyville, VA, and Juanita Allen and her husband, Ralph, of Cumming, GA; his sister-in-law, Sarah Ward of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Eric Ward, Kyle Ward, Kimberly Mitchell, and Tyler Davis; and his great-grandson, Brayden Ward. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Ward Davis; and his brothers, Vance Ward, Lamar Ward, and Arnold Lee Ward.
