Danny Guthrie

Mr. Danny Ray Guthrie, age 66, passed away early on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Miller County Hospital, Colquitt, Georgia. Services for Mr. Guthrie will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. Ellis Hardwick and the Rev. Steve Thomas will be officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. C. E. Earnest, Jamie Marshburn, Arthur Glass, Jim Fredenburg, Lee Boyett, and Daniel Barfield will serve as pallbearers. Frank Spooner, Joe Peters, and Herman Brogdon will serve as honorary pallbeaers. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 18, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Danny Ray Guthrie was born October 2, 1951 in LaGrange, Georgia. His parents, Gerald Guthrie and Sybil McCurdy Guthrie have both preceded him in death. Danny was an avid hunter. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and loved to help in any way possible. He didn't care if it was mowing, he wanted to be of service to his church. Danny has been ill for a while and entertained himself by watching Western movies. Danny Guthrie will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Danny Ray Guthrie is survived by his wife, Betty Sadler Guthrie of Brinson. They have been married over 40 years. He is also survived by his children, DeWayne Guthrie of Brinson and Renee Guthrie of South Carolina; his sisters, Diane Fredenburg of Largo, Florida, Pamela Nelson of Tallahassee, Florida, Teresa Nix of Durant, Oklahoma: and a niece, Payton Glover of Brinson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Anita Guthrie.
