Darline Strickland West, 61, of Albany, GA, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Newton Cranford officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with her nephews serving as active pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Ivey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 562, Bainbridge, GA 39818.Darline was born March 26, 1956 in Bainbridge, GA the daughter of Edward Alto and Betty Louise Parnell Strickland. She attended Bainbridge High School and worked as a Manager with Roses for a number of years. Darline attended Bethel Baptist Church.Darline was known as the glue that held the Strickland clan together, whether sharing family news or organizing the family reunions she was the "go to" person. Mrs. West was known to have a servant's heart and was often found caring for family and friends as they recovered from illness or injury. Her time was not her own as she constantly searched for ways to help others.Survivors include her husband of 30 years Leonard Frank West of Albany, GA; her son, Bryant Syfrett IV of Albany, GA; her step-daughter, Chasity Lynn West of Lavon, FL; her siblings, Susan Lane of Donalsonville, GA, Edward Alto "Bo" Strickland, Jr. and his wife Sherrie of Bainbridge, GA, John Strickland and his wife Diane of Bainbridge, GA, Robert Strickland and his wife Lyn of Colquitt, GA, Betty Jane Jones of Bainbridge, GA and Katie Decker of Beaver Dam, KY; her grandchildren, Ciera and Samantha as well as several nieces and nephews. Darline was preceded in death by her parents.
