David Jones

David Henry (Dave) Jones, Jr., 62, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewitt Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens, with William Beckwith, B. J. Burris, Larry Cantley, Jr., David Ellis, Archie Cantley, and Danny Josey serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Jones was born October 1, 1948 in Macon, GA, the son of David Henry Jones and Elva Bagley Jones. He earned his Master's degree from Troy State University and worked for several school systems, including Decatur County School System. He was the Director of Transportation for Durham School Services in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Jones was of the Baptist faith and was very active in the communities where he worked. He was an avid fan of the Florida Gators, enjoyed listening to music, and was a dedicated supporter of education. Survivors include his son, Christopher Dean Jones of Brinson, GA; and his grandchildren, Skyler Dean Jones and Ashlynn Marie Jones of Bainbridge, GA. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ann Cantley Jones.
