Dawes Lawrence

Mr. Dawes Lawrence, 87 years of age, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at his residence in Bainbridge,Georgia. Mr.Lawrence is a former resident of Albany, Ga. and Jacksonville, Fl. He was a Navy Veteran of World War 2. He was a member of North View Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fl. Vistation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by services at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Samson, Alabama. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Elbert Smith will be officiating. Matthew Graham, Zachary Morey, Joshua Morey, Wayne Lawrence, Harvey Lawrence, and William Lee Lawrence will serve as pall bearers. Dawes Lawrence was born November 30,1924 in Hacoda, Alabama to the late John D.Lawrence and Effie Brooks Lawrence. He was a retired construction foreman for Wright Contracting Company. Dawes Lawrence is survived by his daughters; Jerry Graham and husband Lee of Bainbridge,Ga., Judy Morey of Tifton, Ga.; brothers: Travis Lawrence, James Lawrence, Burl Lawrence, Bill Lawrence, Wayne Lawrence, Harvey Lawrence, and William Lee Lawrence; sister: Erlene Clemmons; and 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 45 years, Bobbie Ree Odom; sister, Frankie Davis; and son-in-law, Gary Morey.
