Dennis Eakin

Dennis M. Eakin, 53, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away March 18, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Haskell H. White officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Climax, GA with his nephews serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Eakin was born December 12, 1954 in Cairo, GA, the son of Fleming VanBuren Eakin and Lora Jeanette Chason Eakin. He was a supervisor for many years at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers and was the owner of D's Recycling. He was a member of Celebration Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class and served in the choir. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur D. Eakin, Stephen W. Eakin and M. Rodney Eakin. Survivors include his wife, Sheliah K. Eakin of Bainbridge, GA; his mother, Jeanette Chason Eakin of Bainbridge, GA; one son, D. Michael Eakin, Jr. of Bainbridge, GA; four daughters, Patty McConnell and husband Joel of Bainbridge, GA, Amy Helms and husband Chris of Elberton, GA, Kimberly Eakin of Bainbridge, GA and April Eakin of Bainbridge, GA; four brothers, Mark Eakin of Bainbridge, GA, Richard Eakin of Bainbridge, GA, Joel Eakin of Valdosta, GA and Earl Eakin of Valdosta, GA; two sisters, Debra King of Donalsonville, GA and Kay Clees of Eldorendo, GA; and four grandchildren, Summer Helms, Ariel Helms, Luke McConnell and Braeden Eakin.
