Derrick Walker

Mr. Derrick K. Walker, age 66, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Tallahassee Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida. A service to honor Mr. Walker will be held Tuesday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m., in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. The Rev. Dewitt Phillips will officiate. Derrick K. Walker was born December 26, 1954, in Whiteville, North Carolina. His parents, Fred Apostle Walker and Macie Irene Ikner Walker, have preceded him in death. Derrick worked in the construction industry. He enjoyed his work and loved to stay busy. Derrick was married to Barbara Sue Austin Walker, who passed away in 2014. Derrick deeply loved his family. He coached baseball and softball when his children were small. The family has been told by many people that he was a wonderful coach and left a great impression on many of those he coached. Derrick was generous to a fault. Derrick had 2 cats, Taz and Snowball. They were as important to him as family. Derrick Walker will be missed by his family and many, many friends. Derrick K. Walker is survived by his children, Jamie Walker and wife, Kristy of Brinson, Georgia and Sonja Walker of Bainbridge, Georgia; and nine grandchildren.
