Mrs. Dixie Perry Heath of Brinson, Georgia died on Monday, February 1, 2010, in Evans, Georgia. Mrs. Heath was born in Iron City, Georgia to Marcellus Perry and Ethel Lee Clark Perry on April 18, 1931. Mrs. Heath is preceded in death by her husband, Hulmer J. Heath Sr., to whom she was married for 42 years. They had four children, Cynthia Denise, Hulmer Jr., Michael Perry and Linda Susan. A devoted wife and mother, she raised all of her children into adulthood, often by herself, while her husband served in two different wars. She managed to provide a loving and comfortable existence during these times. She tirelessly supported her husband during his 30 year military career and as a result traveled to many different locations. She always proudly acknowledged her Georgia roots, with grace and elegance. A bit of Georgia accompanied her to all of the functions she attended. Once in Panama, the orchestra broke into "Georgia on my Mind", as she entered the room where general officers and ambassadors were gathering for a reception honoring the Panamanian ambassador. In later years, she returned to Brinson and where she worked in the Post Office for many years and attended Brinson Baptist Church. She also worked as a substitute teacher at the local high school. She was always involved and had a sincere wish to help others. She loved her house and the yard, and what most people didn't know she was a very avid fisherman. Mrs. Heath is survived by one sister, Mrs. Irene Nalls of Brinson; and three of her children, Hulmer Heath, Jr., of Washington DC; Michael Perry Heath of Detroit, Michigan; and Mrs. Linda Susan Heath Young of Augusta, Georgia. Mrs. Heath also had seven grandchildren, two great grand children and several nieces and nephews from both families. The family will receive friends Friday, February 5, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ivey Funeral Home. Services will be held at the Ivey Funeral Home on February 6, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bainbridge, Georgia.
