Dolores Briles

Dolores Long Briles, age 91, passed away very early on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by her family at home in Bainbridge, Georgia. A private, family service will be held at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, Tallahassee, Florida.

Dolores Long was born June 22, 1934, in St. Petersburg, Florida to Clarence Bernard Long and Willie Irene Robertson Long. She grew up in Sarasota, Florida. While attending the University of Florida, she met the love of her life, Lawrence Dee "Larry" Briles, Jr. She and Larry were married 68 years before his death in 2022. Dolores had a sharp mind and loved to work crossword puzzles, sudoku, and jumbles. She loved to read, play cards, especially bridge and pinochle, and FaceTime with her great-grandsons. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dolores Briles will be deeply missed.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Julie Hawkins (Bill) of Mount Vernon, Ohio and Amy Briles of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Michael Grosh and Danielle Wilkinson (Michael); great-grandsons, Freddy and Ethan Wilkinson; sister-in-law, Beverly Parks; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Elizabeth Briles, and brother, Michael Long.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
