Donald Keith Midler passed away on July 20th, 2026 in the presence of his wife and children.
The funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, July 30th, 2026, at First Christian Church in Bainbridge, Georgia. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Keith was born on November 12th, 1960 in Fort Carson, Colorado. He moved with his family to Bainbridge, Georgia where he lived most of his life, before moving to Flowood, Mississippi with his wife, Kay, in 2010.
Keith’s entrepreneurial spirit began at an early age, around 6, when he began monetizing his list of chores to earn enough money to visit the city pool each afternoon. He ran a paper route, worked for Skeet’s and Brownlee Glass, worked on commercial construction crews in Tennessee and Texas, and ultimately landed back home in Bainbridge to begin his career as a carpenter and general contractor. He built many beautiful custom homes in south Georgia, with his final build being his home shared with wife, Kay in Flowood, Mississippi. He was known as “Boss Man” both on and off the job site due to his take-charge attitude. His work ethic was unmatched and he was always aspiring to fine tune his craft.
He loved slalom skiing and spending time boating on the river. He enjoyed trips to the beach or traveling to new places with his family. He was known as “Coach” to many as he led the Bainbridge YMCA and BHS swim teams for many years. Whether he was teaching a friend how to ski or helping a swimmer improve their stroke, he was patient and encouraging, always wanting them to succeed. Above all else, he was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather. He would give absolutely anything for the wellbeing of his family.
Keith is survived by his wife, Kay Midler; children, Michael Midler (Hillary) of Thomasville, GA, Rachael Midler Bell (Bob) of Madison, GA; grandchildren, Abe Bell, Josie Midler, and Winnie Bell; siblings, Libby Prince, Paul Midler, Joni & Tom Skaggs, and Jan Stevens Thienpont; and numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Midler Stevens; brother, Michael Earl "Mickey" Connell and sister, Fran Connell Trulock.
