Dorothy "Dot" Mills Dean,81, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to service. Interment will follow at Old Mars Hill Cemetery with Johnny Knight, Jason Knight, James "Bubba" Knight, Bradlee Knight, Landon Knight, and Carson Knight serving as active pallbearers. She attended Bethel Baptist Church where she helped with cooking on Wednesday nights for the children's Awana Club. In her early years, Mrs. Dean was a cashier in Albany, GA at Harvey's Supermarket, Piggly Wiggly, and Morrison's Cafeteria. While in Bainbridge, she worked for Sam Barber Furniture and was most recently a homemaker. She loved to cook, bake, fish, and spend time with family. Survivors include her husband of almost 47 years, Samuel Durwood Dean of Bainbridge, GA; her children, Bobbie Jean Shockly and her husband, Charles, of Bainbridge, GA, Donald Knight, Jr. and his wife, Gina, of Gardner, MT, and James Knight, Sr. and his wife, Tonya, of Whigham, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Hubert Mills; and her great-grandsons, Pearson Martin and Clinton Earl Knight.
