Dorothy P. Gibson Griffin, 87, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Brock officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Gene Taylor, Jimmy Kolbie, Dorsey Gibson, Marlin Gibson, Kevin Harrell, Monty Smith, Chad Tuten, Rob Dibenedetto, Joe Phillips, and Rodney Weeks serving as active pallbearers. Dorothy was born August 24, 1922 in Baker County, GA, the daughter of Eager Wilkins Powell and Lura Bell Moore Powell. She was a graduate of Elmodel High School, a homemaker, and a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Vada, GA. After moving to Albany, GA she moved her letter to Sherwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dorsey Gibson and Cliff Griffin, her son, Tyrone Gibson, and her sister, Margie P. Smith. Survivors include her son, Darryl Gibson of Camilla, GA; her daughter, Dawn G. Williams and her husband Winston of Pelham, GA; her daughter-in-law, Judith Gibson of Auburn, AL; seven grandchildren, Winston Williams, Jr. and his wife Sharon, Tanya Williams Clark and her husband Mark, Tara Williams Tuten and her husband Chad, Jaryn Gibson Dibenedetto and her husband Rob, Devin Gibson and his wife Jennifer, Rhett Gibson and his wife Kandy, and Dorsey Gibson; and 12 great-grandchildren.
