Duann Strickland

Mrs. Duann Gardner Strickland, 80, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007 at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. C. Phil Tondee and Dr. Carl G. Garnett officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Austin Strickland, Robbie Strickland, Bill Story, Bobby Palmer, James Stewart, and Lewis Jones serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Strickland was born December 26, 1926 in Brinson, GA, the daughter of Durant W. Gardner and Thelma Yates Gardner. She graduated from Climax High School in 1944 and married Virgil K. Strickland on August 30, 1947. She worked for many years at Reeves Juvenile Shop and was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Virgil K. Strickland of Bainbridge, GA; a daughter, Linda S. Giddings and husband Clark of Albany, GA; two sons, Marshall Strickland and wife Diane of Camilla, GA and Ray Strickland and wife Teresa of Brinson, GA; two brothers, Jimmy Gardner of Asheville, NC and Tom Gardner of Bishop, CA; two sisters, Adonis Williams of Tallahassee, FL and Alsie Cook of Valdosta, GA; and two grandchildren, Austin Strickland of Camilla, GA and Robbie Strickland of Valdosta, GA.
