E. W. "Pete" Hatcher, Jr., 90, of Leander, TX (formerly of Bainbridge, GA), passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 in Leander, TX. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at First Christian Church with Minister Jeff Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. Pete was born May 30, 1919 in Eldorendo, GA, the son of Eulie W. Hatcher and Aluta Mae Valentine Hatcher. He was a graduate of Pine Hill High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for the Bainbridge Fire Department from 1938 to 1939 and was a retired salesman for Sears. He was a lifetime member of Orion Lodge # 8 F. & A. M. and a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Walon Hatcher. Survivors include his wife, Varina L. Hatcher of Leander, TX; his son, Kevin Hatcher of San Antonio, TX; his daughters, Gay H. DeBakey and her husband Duane of Leander, TX and Lauren H. Hansen and her husband Don of Bynum, MT; two granddaughters, Jennifer DeBakey and Katherine DeBakey; and two great-granddaughters, Sierra DeBakey and Angie Cardona.
